Tomo Coffee Co.

Tomo Coffee Co. is looking to build a bike cart that will serve ready to drink cold brew on tap.   throughout the Detroit area.

Single speed cyclocross world championship.

Great video from the single speed cyclocross world championship in Louisville. Cross bikes continue to be both our most common build and our favorite. If you're thinking of trying a race, it's easily the most fun, exciting race discipline out there. Costumes and drinking are optional, but appreciated.

Spring is on its way.

It has been a long and bitter cold winter.   With that said spring is just around the corner and your bike is begging for a tune up.  Make sure to schedule your appointment early and beat the early spring rush.   I took the time to install a furnace in the shop this winter, the only problem is that the ground is still frozen so there will be no gas until late spring.    Repairs are starting to come in and the shop temperature is hanging in the mid teens, one more winter with space heaters.

early repairs make for one cold mechanic.

Shop updates

Today the shop received a much needed upgrade. I installed a furnace after first knocking a hole through the cinder block wall.  Four hours of hammer and chisel the furnace fit like a glove.  Next up, dig a 100 foot long trench and lay some black pipe.

Wheelman Truck

The boys and I got to test ride three of Coker Cycle Company's Wheelman truck bicycles this weekend.  It's 36" wheel takes some getting use to but once you make a few turns the wheelman trucks are a blast.  Our posse hit the streets in style and it only took a block before a unsanctioned race broke out, and yes these bad boys freewheel.  Helmet highly recommended.

In The Rack... or on car jacks

We recently finished repairs on a pair of pedi cabs.  Not often we need car jacks and stands to do bike repairs but they were slightly to large for out traditional bicycle stand.  Not the easiest repair considering the shop is slightly over 300 sq ft but the test rides were a blast. image

Detroit Bikes: Factory Build 1

I will be posting some photos of the progress at Detroits only bicycle factory (Detroit Bikes) as the factory sets up for July production.

Setting up the wash room (not bathroom) this is where steel tubes and other various parts get cleaned and prepared for final welding.  attached to these post will be a trolly system suspended 9 feet above that will transfer baskets from one 90 gallon wash tank to another 4 in total.  More photos to follow.
