Tales from the shop.

Haven't posted much lately been busy with various shop happenings. Here are a few photos from the past few weeks.

It's winter which means it's time to brew.  Our first batch to the year is Honey brown.  18 lbs of grain and 10 gallons of beer that took a total of 8 hours total brew time.

Belgium Triple

Here are a few shots from our last brew day. We brewed a belgium triple with a original gravity of 1.084 and a final gravity of 1.017 at 70 degrees gives us roughly 8.7% alcohol.

Winter Porch Beer

Today was a brew day. We brewed a Belgian Wit outside in the depth of winter. First stop was Hopman's for some ingredients, then off to the porch for the boil.

Bottling Day

Today was bottling day at HGC.  We brewed up a batch of Irish Stout a few weeks back and today was bottling day.  We had to clean and sanitize 48 bottles and hang them to dry on our homemade beer rack. Once we transferred the beer from the carboy to the bucket it was time to pour and cap.  There was a little left over after all 48 bottles were filled, just enough for two pint glasses full.  The beer lacked carbonation but was very tasty, and in just a few short weeks we will have a fully carbonated Irish Stout.
